Barbados Tourism Soars with More Flights from American Airlines and JetBlue

As Barbados emerges from the pandemic and experiences a surge in tourism, major airlines are setting their sights on the popular destination. Both American Airlines and JetBlue Airways are increasing their services to the island.

American Airlines will be enhancing its offerings this summer by expanding its service between Charlotte Douglas International Airport and Barbados. Starting on December 2021, daily flights will be available, extending through the peak winter travel season until April 3, 2024. Additionally, from January 8, the route will operate five times a week. Furthermore, American Airlines plans to launch an additional daily flight between Miami and Barbados from August 15 to September 5. This will result in a total of three daily flights between Miami and Barbados during that period.

JetBlue has also responded to the increased demand by extending its second daily flight between New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport and Barbados until at least October. Originally scheduled to end in September 2021, the route has been expanded due to the surge in interest.

In addition to American Airlines and JetBlue, United Airlines recently announced year-round service to Barbados from both Washington, DC, and Newark. This influx of new flights signifies the island’s remarkable recovery after the pandemic, especially as it aims to attract more visitors from the crucial United States market.

Currently, Barbados is preparing for a vibrant summer with various events lined up, including the renowned Sol Rally Barbados, the highly anticipated Crop Over festival spanning the majority of the summer, and the popular Barbados Food and Rum Festival. Many resorts in Barbados, such as The Club Barbados, are offering special programs to entice travelers to visit during the summer season.
