American Airlines (AA) has announced its plans to expand flight services from Miami International Airport (MIA) to various destinations in the Caribbean including Barbados for the upcoming winter travel season. The airline aims to enhance connectivity and meet the growing demand for travel in the region.
Effective from December 20, 2023, to January 7, 2024, AA will increase its flight frequency to Anguilla, offering two daily flights to cater to the surge in passenger traffic during this period. Additionally, flights to St Maarten and Barbados will be increased to three times per day, providing passengers with more options and flexibility. AA also intends to augment its Saturday flights, a peak travel day, to three per day.

Commencing on February 3, 2024, AA will introduce non-stop service from MIA to Governor’s Harbour, Bahamas (GHB). The flights will operate twice weekly, utilizing the efficient Embraer E175 aircraft. This new route will supplement AA’s existing network, which already encompasses 14 daily departures to six Bahamian destinations, strengthening their presence in the region.
Expressing pride in their longstanding partnership with Miami International Airport, Juan Carlos Liscano, American’s Vice President of MIA Hub Operations, highlighted the significance of the airline’s role as the hometown carrier. He emphasized their commitment to providing passengers with an exceptional network that includes distinctive destinations like Governor’s Harbour, Bahamas, and Anguilla. Liscano further acknowledged the dedication of their 14,000 locally-based team members, stating that the upcoming winter season investments reaffirm their commitment to Miami as the premier gateway to Latin America and the Caribbean.
