Barbados is set to become the site of a new, state-of-the-art medical campus offering top-quality surgical and diagnostic care to local, regional, and international patients. The developers, Universal Medical Advance Center Inc. (UMAC), have selected a 13-acre plot of land in Kent, Christ Church, situated east of the Wildey Gymnasium, as the proposed location for this innovative facility.
The establishment of the medical campus is expected to bring about significant enhancements in medical services for Barbadians while also making a positive impact on the island’s medical care reputation in the growing health tourism industry. In addition, it is projected to generate over 400 job opportunities, bolstering the local economy.

The forthcoming medical campus will feature an ultramodern surgical hospital equipped to provide a wide range of procedures, including general, plastic, and specialized surgeries, as well as cardiology and urology treatments. Complementing these services will be a medical office housing an Imaging Centre, facilitating MRIs, X-Rays, Mammography, and Radiation Therapy. Further facilities will include a Diagnostic and Laboratory Services/Pathology Department and a Brain and Rehab Centre catering to Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy needs.
UMAC emphasized that the advanced campus will adhere to the highest healthcare standards, being Joint Commission International (JCI) accredited and certified. Alongside the aforementioned amenities, the medical campus will incorporate a Diabetic Centre, a pharmacy, multi-speciality clinics, and an Infusion Centre capable of administering chemotherapy, rheumatology/arthritis treatments, antibiotics/HIV medications, neurology procedures, and iron/haematological/blood infusions.
