Barbados has once again demonstrated its culinary prowess with multiple nominations in the esteemed World Culinary Awards, affirming its position as the Caribbean’s top culinary destination. The renowned Barbados Food and Rum Festival leads the charge, securing a nomination for the Caribbean’s Best Culinary Festival, a title it previously claimed in 2023. In another accolade, The City of Bridgetown has been recognized as the Caribbean’s Best Emerging Culinary City Destination, while the Jean and Norma Holder Hospitality Institute at the Barbados Community College has been nominated for the Caribbean’s Best Culinary Training Institution.
Andrea Franklin, CEO of the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI), expressed her enthusiasm for these nominations, stating, “We are thrilled that Barbados continues to be acknowledged by the World Culinary Awards.” Highlighting the Barbados Food and Rum Festival, Franklin added, “Following our 2023 win, this year’s nomination underscores BTMI’s ongoing efforts to promote Barbados’ rich culinary heritage and vibrant food scene through one of the most coveted festivals.”

The upcoming 2024 Barbados Food and Rum Festival, scheduled for October 24-27, promises a diverse lineup of events including the Liquid Gold Feast, Rise & Rum Breakfast Party, Rum Route, Chef Classics, Oistins Under the Stars, Culture of Cuisine Talks, and the newly introduced Bajan Fair, featuring family-friendly activities. Community pop-ups, a festival staple, will also be part of the festivities.
Now in its fifth year, the World Culinary Awards honors excellence in the global culinary sphere through its annual awards program, with winners determined by public voting, open until August 30.
