Hyatt’s much-anticipated Centric brand is finally making its debut in the Caribbean, and it’s coming to the heart of the Dominican Republic. After years of speculation and rumors about possible locations in Barbados and Puerto Rico, the first Hyatt Centric hotel in the region is set to open in Santo Domingo.

The Hyatt Centric Santo Domingo is scheduled to welcome guests in spring 2025. Located in the bustling Piantini district, an area known for its growing number of high-end hotels, including the recently opened Courtyard by Marriott, this new addition promises to be a standout destination.

The 130-room hotel will offer a range of dining and entertainment options. Guests can enjoy a meal at Aon Food & Mood, a restaurant featuring an international menu and a curated wine list. The hotel will also house three lounges: a coffee bar, a rooftop bar, and a lobby bar.

Amenities at the Hyatt Centric Santo Domingo will include a rooftop pool with stunning views of the city, a modern gym, free parking, free Wi-Fi, and concierge service.

Booking starts on May 15, 2025, and rooms will be available for reservation on the hotel’s website.

But what exactly is the Hyatt Centric brand? While many travelers are familiar with traditional Hyatt brands like Grand Hyatt and Hyatt Regency, Centric aims to offer something different. It’s described as an “upper upscale” brand that focuses on essential yet refined amenities, including a bar-restaurant and fitness center. The Centric brand also places a strong emphasis on connecting with the local environment and appeals to a younger, more adventurous demographic.

For those wondering about rates, rooms start at around $170 per night, with that rate offering a queen room for non-World of Hyatt members.

This opening marks Santo Domingo’s third major hotel launch in a short time, following the recent unveiling of the Kimpton Las Mercedes in the historic Colonial Zone and the aforementioned Marriott Courtyard. With its central location and sleek amenities, Hyatt Centric Santo Domingo promises to be a dynamic addition to the city’s hospitality scene.
