Congratulating Prime Minister Mottley on the launch of the Bridgetown Initiative 3.0 at the UN General Assembly, Hope-Wills underscored the shared dedication of both countries to addressing the climate crisis and mitigating its impact on small island developing states.
Prime Minister Mottley highlighted the enduring partnership between Barbados and Canada, noting ongoing discussions with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and other officials on mutual areas of interest. She also provided an update on Barbados’ renewable energy initiatives and stressed the importance of energy storage capabilities for the country’s progress in sustainable energy.
“If we don’t implement these measures, the country won’t fully reap the benefits of renewable energy, and the people we aim to support—particularly in expanding home ownership—won’t benefit,” Mottley explained. “However, we will continue to push forward.”
