The Central Bank of Barbados will reveal the official brand for its National Instant Payment System (IPS) at a launch event on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. The unveiling will showcase the system’s name and logo, along with details of a public education programme designed to help Barbadians prepare for its rollout.
Set to go live in 2026, the IPS will enable individuals, businesses, and government agencies to send and receive payments in just 10 seconds, with immediate access to funds. The platform will be fully interoperable, allowing seamless transactions between users regardless of their financial institution—an important step toward boosting financial inclusion.

“Our goal is to make financial services accessible to every Barbadian, whether they bank with a traditional institution or a credit union,” said Novaline Brewster, the Bank’s director of communications, information and outreach. “The IPS will change the way payments are made in Barbados by offering speed, inclusivity, and round-the-clock availability.”
The launch event will include a panel discussion featuring Governor Dr Kevin Greenidge, Deputy Governor Michelle Doyle, Shimon McIntosh, president of The Barbados Bankers Association, and Nicholas Smith, senior financial sector specialist at the World Bank.
Part of a wider push to modernise the nation’s payment infrastructure, the IPS supports the Central Bank’s mission to promote financial stability and enhance the overall efficiency of Barbados’ financial system.
