Barbados is strengthening its position as a leading regional investment destination following a landmark partnership between Invest Barbados and the Caribbean Economic Forum ahead of the inaugural Caribbean Economic Forum 2026.
The high-level forum, scheduled for June 18–19 at the Hilton Barbados Resort, is expected to bring together approximately 150 global investors, development finance institutions, infrastructure funds, government leaders, and private-sector executives for two days of intensive project pitching, investment discussions, and deal-making opportunities across the Caribbean region.
According to organizers, the forum aims to facilitate at least US$1 billion in investment transactions while unlocking access to more than US$5 billion in blended finance, technical assistance, guarantees, and development funding across several high-impact sectors.
Barbados Expands Its Investment Ambitions
Speaking on the partnership, Kaye Greenidge explained that Barbados plans to showcase a broad range of local investment opportunities spanning manufacturing, renewable energy, infrastructure, and entrepreneurship.
Greenidge noted that the initiative is designed not only to attract foreign capital but also to support Barbadian businesses seeking to scale internationally and bring locally developed products to global markets.
Among the projects expected to be highlighted are small and medium-sized Barbadian enterprises looking to secure funding for expansion, export growth, and commercial development.
According to Greenidge, the ultimate objective is to connect “investable projects with investors who have the capacity to make those projects a reality,” helping drive economic diversification, job creation, and long-term national growth.

Focus on High-Impact Regional Sectors
The Caribbean Economic Forum 2026 will focus on sectors considered critical to the region’s future development and resilience, including:
- Renewable energy and resilient power systems
- Water and climate-resilient infrastructure
- Port and maritime development
- Food security and agricultural modernization
- Blue economy initiatives and coastal resilience
- Sustainable infrastructure and regional logistics
Organizers describe the event as the Caribbean’s first dedicated deal origination and investment platform, designed to dramatically accelerate the investment process by compressing what traditionally takes 12–24 months of fundraising and negotiations into an intensive 48-hour business environment.
Barbados at the Centre of Regional Capital Mobilisation
Under the agreement, Invest Barbados will serve as the premier partner of the forum under the branding “Caribbean Economic Forum 2026, Powered by Invest Barbados.”
The collaboration is being viewed as a significant milestone in Barbados’ broader strategy to position itself as a regional centre for investment facilitation, economic transformation, and international business development.
Greenidge also revealed that the partnership could extend beyond the 2026 event, potentially allowing Barbados to participate in future Caribbean Economic Forum initiatives hosted elsewhere throughout the region and internationally.

Creating Long-Term Economic Opportunities
Tourism, infrastructure, renewable energy, manufacturing, and entrepreneurship are all expected to benefit from the increased exposure to global investors and development institutions attending the forum.
Industry observers believe the initiative could help strengthen Barbados’ international business profile while creating new opportunities for regional public-private partnerships, infrastructure financing, and sustainable development projects.
As Caribbean economies increasingly focus on resilience, innovation, and diversification, Barbados is positioning itself at the forefront of regional investment conversations — leveraging strategic partnerships, international capital networks, and its reputation for political and economic stability to attract long-term growth opportunities.
