Bridgetown is set to become the centre of Caribbean investment discussions this October as the fifth Caribbean Investment Forum brings together regional projects, investors and development partners with a focus on turning investment opportunities into tangible deals.
Caribbean Export has officially launched Caribbean Investment Forum (CIF) 2026, with the flagship regional investment event scheduled to take place in Bridgetown from October 5–7, 2026.
Hosted by the Caribbean Export Development Agency in partnership with the Government of Barbados and the European Union, this year’s forum is expected to focus strongly on investment readiness, strategic partnerships and capital mobilisation.
At the centre of the programme will be 30 pre-qualified investment opportunities valued at approximately US$172 million, giving investors an opportunity to explore projects that have already undergone a level of preparation for investment.
From Investment Conversations to Investment Deals
Since its launch in 2022, the Caribbean Investment Forum has evolved from a platform for regional investment discussions into a more targeted initiative focused on connecting viable Caribbean projects with the capital and expertise required to scale them.
Dr Lynette Holder, chairperson of the Caribbean Export Development Agency, said the forum has helped reshape the way the region presents itself to international investors.
Rather than being viewed primarily through the lens of tourism, natural resources or development needs, the Caribbean is increasingly being positioned as a region offering innovation, resilience, entrepreneurship and investment potential.
The 2026 forum will focus on:
- Pre-qualified and investment-ready projects
- Investor engagement and business matchmaking
- Strategic partnerships
- Access to capital
- Investment readiness
- Institutional governance
- Climate and development finance
- Regional economic growth
The organisers are encouraging governments, investment promotion agencies, private-sector developers and international capital providers to participate and use the three-day forum to establish partnerships and advance investment opportunities.

30 Projects Valued at Approximately US$172 Million
One of the most significant elements of CIF 2026 is Caribbean Export’s curated portfolio of 30 pre-qualified projects with a combined estimated value of US$172 million.
Dr Damie Sinanan, executive director of Caribbean Export, said the region has no shortage of entrepreneurial ideas or ambition. The challenge, he explained, is often creating the connection between promising opportunities and investors.
The forum is intended to address that gap by bringing together businesses seeking to expand with investors, technical partners and financial institutions.
The investment platform aims to connect:
- Caribbean businesses with potential investors
- Developers with strategic partners
- Projects with appropriate financing
- Entrepreneurs with technical support
- Regional opportunities with international capital
This approach represents a move towards a more structured investment ecosystem, where promising projects can receive support before, during and after investor engagement.
A Forum Designed to Continue Beyond Three Days
Caribbean Export is also looking beyond the traditional conference model.
The organisation intends to develop CIF into a year-round regional investment promotion platform, rather than limiting its impact to the three days of the annual event.
The longer-term objective is to identify investment opportunities earlier, improve project readiness and maintain engagement with investors throughout the year.
This could create a more consistent pipeline of Caribbean investment opportunities while helping projects progress from initial concepts to actual financing and implementation.

Climate Finance and Sustainable Investment
Climate finance will also form an increasingly important part of the Caribbean’s investment landscape.
Caribbean Export’s recent accreditation by the Green Climate Fund is expected to strengthen its ability to connect private-sector initiatives in the region with climate finance, development funding and blended finance structures.
For Caribbean economies facing climate-related risks, access to these funding mechanisms could become increasingly important for projects involving:
- Renewable energy
- Climate resilience
- Sustainable infrastructure
- Green technology
- Environmental development
- Sustainable business models
The focus reflects a wider shift towards investment that combines financial returns with long-term economic and environmental resilience.
Why the Caribbean Is Attracting Investor Attention
The European Union is also highlighting the Caribbean’s potential at a time when investors are dealing with global economic uncertainty, tighter capital markets and increasingly fragmented supply chains.
Fiona Ramsey, ambassador of the European Union Delegation to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, pointed to several advantages offered by the region.
Key investment advantages include:
- Political stability
- Established legal frameworks
- Strategic geographic positioning
- A growing skilled workforce
- Significant renewable energy potential
- An expanding digital economy
- Innovative entrepreneurs
- Access to regional and international markets
These characteristics are becoming increasingly important as businesses and investors look for stable jurisdictions and new opportunities for diversification.

EU Support for Regional Investment
The European Union remains a significant partner in supporting investment across the Caribbean through the CARIFORUM-EU Economic Partnership Agreement and its Global Gateway investment framework.
Global Gateway is designed to help mobilise private investment for infrastructure and projects supporting sustainable development, including areas such as green energy, digital connectivity and critical infrastructure.
The organisers believe the increased emphasis on pre-qualified projects, targeted investor engagement and business matchmaking demonstrates how the Caribbean Investment Forum is becoming more focused on measurable economic outcomes.
Barbados Takes Centre Stage
For Barbados, hosting the fifth Caribbean Investment Forum provides an opportunity to position Bridgetown as a meeting point for regional and international capital.
The event comes at a significant time for both Caribbean Export and the European Union, coinciding with the 30th anniversary of Caribbean Export and the 50th anniversary of the EU’s diplomatic presence in the region.
With US$172 million in pre-qualified opportunities already identified, the 2026 forum is expected to place less emphasis on simply discussing the Caribbean’s investment potential and more on creating the partnerships needed to turn that potential into projects, businesses and economic growth.
As Caribbean Export moves towards a year-round investment promotion model, CIF 2026 could mark an important step in positioning the region as a more organised, investment-ready and globally competitive destination for capital.
