Barbados is set to welcome a game-changing addition to its tourism sector as Sandals Resorts International (SRI) unveils plans for its first-ever Beaches Resort on the island. This massive project, located on the site of the former Heywood’s Hotel Resort and Almond Resort in St. Peter, is being hailed as the largest single tourism investment in Barbados’ history.

Beaches Barbados: A New Family Destination

Set to break ground in late 2025, Beaches Barbados will feature 600 rooms, ranging from elegant king and queen suites to sprawling four-bedroom, 3,000-square-foot villas. Designed with families in mind, the resort will offer accommodations that cater to groups of all sizes, blending luxury with comfort.

One of its standout features will be its “Main Street” concept, a lively, village-style boulevard lined with world-class dining options, retail boutiques, outdoor entertainment stages, and a modern sports bar. This vibrant hub is designed to create a dynamic and immersive Caribbean experience for guests.

Major Economic Impact

The construction and launch of Beaches Barbados will generate approximately 3,500 jobs, providing a significant boost to the local economy. The project is expected to create employment opportunities in construction, hospitality, food service, entertainment, and transportation.

As Barbados continues to position itself as a premier family-friendly luxury destination, this expansion represents a major step forward in attracting more visitors to the island.

A Billion-Dollar Expansion Across the Caribbean

The development of Beaches Barbados is part of a $1 billion investment strategy by Sandals Resorts International to double the Beaches brand’s presence in the Caribbean. Over the next five years, SRI plans to launch new resorts in Barbados, The Bahamas, and Jamaica, while upgrading existing properties like Beaches Turks and Caicos.

“As a family from the Caribbean, we have a deep love for our islands, and it’s incredibly gratifying to draw inspiration from our guests.”

Transforming Barbados’ Tourism Landscape

The arrival of Beaches Barbados marks a significant milestone in the country’s tourism evolution. As an all-inclusive luxury resort, it is expected to attract families, honeymooners, and luxury travelers looking for an unforgettable Caribbean escape.

Beyond tourism, the resort’s development will also fuel growth in local industries, including agriculture, entertainment, and transportation, reinforcing Barbados’ reputation as a top-tier vacation destination.
