Air Canada has officially launched complimentary streaming-quality Wi-Fi across its Caribbean and Mexico routes, marking a significant upgrade for travelers flying between Canada and the region.
The new service, sponsored by Bell, is now available for Aeroplan members on Air Canada, Air Canada Rouge, and select Air Canada Express flights operating throughout the airline’s North American leisure network, including the Caribbean.
The rollout positions Air Canada among the leading carriers serving the Caribbean in terms of onboard connectivity, offering passengers gate-to-gate access to high-speed internet capable of supporting video streaming, gaming, video calls, and other data-heavy applications.

A Major Upgrade for Caribbean Travelers
The airline says the new Wi-Fi service represents a substantial improvement over the complimentary in-flight texting programme introduced for Aeroplan members in 2023.
According to Mark Nasr, reliable onboard connectivity has become an essential part of the modern travel experience.
The free streaming-quality Wi-Fi is now available on flights to several Caribbean destinations served by Air Canada, including:
- Barbados
- Antigua and Barbuda
- The Bahamas
- Jamaica
- Saint Lucia
- Grenada
- Aruba
- Curaçao
- Dominican Republic
- Cuba
- Sint Maarten
The enhanced connectivity is expected to become a major selling point for the airline as competition intensifies across the Canada-Caribbean travel market.
How the Service Works
Passengers can access the free Wi-Fi service by adding their Aeroplan membership number when booking or prior to check-in.
Once onboard, travelers simply connect to the aircraft’s Wi-Fi network and follow the login prompts to activate the service on their personal devices. Travelers can also switch between devices during the flight without losing their session.
Passengers who are not Aeroplan members can still purchase Wi-Fi access separately or join the loyalty programme free of charge.
Caribbean Travel Demand Continues to Grow
The rollout comes during a period of strong demand for Caribbean travel from Canada, with destinations across the region continuing to record healthy visitor arrivals from major Canadian markets.
Air Canada remains one of the largest airline operators serving the Caribbean from Canada, alongside carriers such as WestJet, Air Transat, and Sunwing Airlines.
Several Caribbean destinations — including Barbados, Antigua, Grenada, and Saint Lucia — have experienced steady growth in Canadian visitor arrivals in recent years, supported by expanded airlift and sustained winter travel demand.

Expansion Across the Air Canada Fleet
Air Canada says the streaming-quality Wi-Fi service is already available on approximately 88 percent of its fleet, with the remaining aircraft expected to be upgraded by early 2026.
The airline also confirmed plans to become the first carrier globally to introduce Wi-Fi service on De Havilland Q400 aircraft, including those operating from Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport.
Additional Wi-Fi installations are also expected later this year on the airline’s Embraer E175 fleet, pending certification approvals.
Looking ahead, Air Canada plans to expand complimentary streaming-quality Wi-Fi to international long-haul routes in 2026, while free texting will continue to remain available for Aeroplan members on those services in the interim.
A Competitive Advantage for Caribbean Routes
Industry observers say the new service gives Air Canada a meaningful competitive advantage within the Caribbean leisure travel market, where many airlines still offer either limited onboard connectivity or paid Wi-Fi access only.
For Caribbean travelers, the introduction of fast, complimentary streaming Wi-Fi represents one of the most practical and passenger-focused upgrades introduced on regional leisure routes in recent years — particularly for remote workers, business travelers, families, and long-haul vacation passengers seeking uninterrupted connectivity throughout their journey.
