Barbados News – LIAT 2020 Adds Direct Flights to Barbados

Barbados is set to become even more accessible to travelers with the introduction of direct flights by LIAT 2020, the newly revived regional airline. Following its inaugural flight landing in Dominica on August 29, 2024, LIAT 2020 has announced the launch of direct routes to Barbados, enhancing the island’s connectivity within the Caribbean.

Promoting the launch on its official Facebook page, LIAT 2020 invited travelers to experience the beauty of Barbados firsthand. The airline’s message read, “Get ready for an unforgettable Barbados escape. Book your flight today and let paradise be your destination. Feel the island breeze and soak up the sun in Barbados.”

This move is part of LIAT 2020’s broader strategy to expand its Caribbean network, with Barbados as a key destination. The airline had initially introduced direct flights to Dominica, Grenada, and St Kitts and Nevis, and soon after, added routes to Saint Lucia and Barbados. The addition of these direct flights underscores the airline’s commitment to strengthening regional travel options and making it easier for visitors to reach the vibrant island of Barbados.

Emerging from the closure of LIAT 1947, which was grounded due to financial challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, LIAT 2020 is offering introductory fares starting at US$99 (excluding taxes). The airline was relaunched through a collaboration between the government of Antigua and Barbuda and Nigeria-based carrier AirPeace in January 2024.

The relaunch, which began in March 2024, followed extensive negotiations and efforts to secure new aircraft. The expansion into Barbados is a significant milestone, signaling a revival of regional air connectivity that promises to boost tourism and economic activity on the island.

With the addition of new routes to Barbados, Dominica, St. Kitts, and Grenada, we are committed to making island-hopping more accessible and enjoyable for all.”

As LIAT 2020 continues to expand its network across the Caribbean, travelers can look forward to more convenient connections to Barbados, making it easier than ever to enjoy the island’s unique charm and attractions.
