Rihanna recently marked a unique homecoming, returning to Barbados to celebrate the launch of Fenty Beauty across the Caribbean. The pop culture icon and beauty mogul hosted a lively event in her homeland to commemorate the brand’s availability across nine Caribbean territories, including Antigua, Aruba, the Bahamas, Bermuda, Cayman Islands, Trinidad and Tobago, Grenada, and Sint Maarten as of October 24, 2024.
The expansion had been a long-standing goal for Rihanna, who previously expressed her wish to make Fenty Beauty accessible in her native region. “It’s always felt awkward that my brand has not been in my home, so this is something I’ve always wanted to do,” she shared with ESSENCE at the event. Reflecting on her commitment, she added, “The moment that we were approved to come here—we came.”

Rihanna also hinted that Fenty Beauty’s presence in the Caribbean is only beginning. “The Caribbean, I wear that on my back, just like I do Barbados,” she stated, emphasizing her dedication to broadening the brand’s reach. While Fenty Beauty is now available in nine islands, she plans to continue expanding, with the goal of covering the entire Caribbean.
Prominent attendees included Reginae Carter and Barbadian Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley. The celebration unfolded at the scenic QP bistro, an oceanfront restaurant along Barbados’s west coast. Rihanna, who holds the title of one of Barbados’s national heroes, added to the excitement by mingling with guests and even taking over as DJ at one point.
At the event, Rihanna spoke about how her Caribbean roots have influenced her approach to beauty and product development. “Beauty has always been a very sincere space. But now I’m incorporating ingredients from the island into my skincare, into my beauty,” she explained. She highlighted the practicality of products like Invisimatte, designed to combat shine, particularly useful in the region’s humidity.
Rihanna views the Caribbean launch as a reinforcement of Fenty Beauty’s founding mission: inclusivity. “Everyone found a shade, everyone found their soulmate on our gondola,” she remarked, underscoring her goal to make her brand accessible to all. Recalling her mother as her earliest inspiration in beauty, she added, “The first person I ever saw put foundation on their skin was my mom, a Black woman. I never knew there was a void. I just did it from my heart because that’s what I’ve known.”

For Rihanna, inclusivity extends beyond any one demographic. Her goal is for everyone to feel represented and welcomed by Fenty Beauty, Fenty Skin, and her upcoming ventures, such as Fenty Hair. In her words, “I want everyone to be able to shop at Fenty.”
