The Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority recently hosted Canadian actor, producer, director, and writer Gil Bellows, renowned for his roles in The Shawshank Redemption, The Weather Man, and House at the End of the Street. Bellows’ visit aimed to showcase the islands as a premier film destination.

Accompanied by film commissioner Bert Kirchner, Bellows toured several potential filming locations, exploring Antigua and Barbuda’s diverse landscapes and film production capabilities. The tour underscored the islands’ growing appeal as a prime filming spot.
To further strengthen ties with the local industry, the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority organized an industry mixer at the historic Copper and Lumber Restaurant, where Bellows networked with local creatives and producers. The event provided a platform for exchanging ideas and exploring opportunities to increase the islands’ presence in the global film scene.

Bellows also visited the Antigua Girls High School, where he led a workshop for theatre arts students. The session gave students valuable insights into the film and theatre industry, motivating them to pursue their own creative aspirations.
