Due to a surge in demand, Aer Lingus is gearing up to reintroduce direct flights from Manchester to Barbados next month. Commencing on November 1st, the Irish airline will operate this route three times a week, with return fares starting at £498 per person.
In recent years, Aer Lingus has been intensifying its long-haul operations at Manchester, which includes expanding its Orlando route to four weekly flights and offering daily service to New York. This strategic move comes in response to a notable 30% year-on-year increase in the demand for flights originating from Manchester, primarily from travelers residing in the Greater Manchester area and the northern regions of England.

To meet this growing demand, Aer Lingus has taken significant steps to augment its presence at the Manchester airport. One of the key enhancements is the replacement of one of its single-aisle aircraft with a second wide-body aircraft, increasing capacity. In total, the additional capacity provided by Aer Lingus at Manchester this year will amount to 63,000 seats.
Andrew Cowan, the CEO of Manchester Airport, expressed enthusiasm for this partnership, stating, “Passengers in the north are able to fly directly from Manchester to destinations as varied as America, Barbados, and, of course, Dublin with Aer Lingus. This partnership helps us connect the north with the world, and we’re looking forward to continuing and building on this in the years to come.”
Since its establishment at Manchester in October 2021, Aer Lingus has successfully served half a million passengers. Looking ahead, the airline plans to expand its services to the United States next year from Dublin. This expansion will include new Denver services and the resumption of direct flights to Minneapolis-St. Paul in the spring.
