The 2024 Barbados Food and Rum Festival has achieved record-breaking attendance, marking the largest influx of visitors in the festival’s history. This milestone was confirmed by Andrea Franklin, CEO of the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI), during the sold-out Rise & Rum Breakfast Beach Party held recently at Harbour Lights, Bay Street, St. Michael.

Franklin noted that ticket sales this year reflected the highest number of visitors recorded for the festival. Additionally, she mentioned that many more visitors arrived in Barbados for the festival season, even if they were unable to obtain tickets due to high demand. The surge in attendance, she explained, was attributed to intensive promotional efforts around the festival.

“We’ve been building awareness year by year, and it’s exciting to see these efforts pay off,” Franklin shared, acknowledging the long-term commitment that has helped the event grow.

One of the festival’s standout events, the Rise & Rum Breakfast Beach Party, featured vibrant shades of yellow as attendees enjoyed an atmosphere of lively music and Caribbean flavors. The 2024 festival commenced with “Oistins Under The Stars” at Oistins Bay Garden, which set the tone for the four-day celebration running from October 24 to 27, 2024. Hundreds of attendees gathered at each event to enjoy the festival’s festive music, food, and culture.

Their dishes offered a feast for attendees, concluding the festival on a high note with a historic turnout that underscored Barbados’s growing appeal as a global culinary destination.
