Caribbean Airlines is increasing regional connectivity this September with the launch of additional nonstop flights between Barbados and Guyana to accommodate rising travel demand surrounding the 2026 Caribbean Premier League (CPL) cricket matches.
The expanded service will operate between Grantley Adams International Airport and Cheddi Jagan International Airport, providing cricket fans, regional travelers, and tourism visitors with more convenient direct access between the two destinations during one of the Caribbean’s most anticipated sporting events.
According to the airline, the temporary flight additions are designed to support increased passenger movement while strengthening regional tourism and inter-Caribbean travel connectivity.

CPL Continues to Drive Regional Travel Demand
The Caribbean Premier League remains one of the region’s most influential sporting and tourism events, attracting cricket fans, international visitors, media, and regional travelers across multiple Caribbean destinations each year.
Tourism stakeholders throughout the region increasingly view major sporting events such as CPL as valuable drivers of hotel occupancy, regional travel, restaurant activity, entertainment spending, and destination visibility.
The additional Barbados-Guyana flights are expected to support not only cricket-related travel but also broader tourism demand between the two countries during the busy September travel period.
Strengthening Regional Connectivity
The expanded schedule also reflects Caribbean Airlines’ continued focus on improving intra-regional air connectivity throughout the Caribbean and northern South America.
As travel demand across the region continues to recover and grow, airlines are increasingly introducing event-driven and seasonal services to support tourism, business travel, sports tourism, and diaspora movement between Caribbean destinations.
The Barbados-Guyana corridor has remained an important regional route, supported by strong cultural, tourism, and business connections between the two countries.
