Barbados is set to welcome three British companies in the coming weeks as they explore business opportunities in housing, alternative energy construction, and business development.

This development follows a highly productive meeting between the Greater Birmingham Chamber of Commerce (GBCC) and Barbados representatives, including Deputy High Commissioner Mackie Holder and Athelston “Tony” Sealey, Special Envoy for Inward Investment and Diaspora Engagement.

Strengthening Business Ties

In addition to these companies’ planned visits, several follow-up discussions are already underway with other British businesses. Notably, the Legacy Centre of Excellence is engaging with Barbados on cultural and vocational programs, while the Birmingham Panthers, a newly revived franchise in the United Kingdom Super League, is exploring professional sporting partnerships.

Deputy High Commissioner Mackie Holder expressed enthusiasm over the strong response from Chamber members, calling it a clear sign of confidence in Barbados’ economic trajectory.

“This was one of the most positive business sessions I have experienced,” Holder remarked. “If we can maintain this momentum, both Barbados and the High Commission stand to benefit significantly.”

Upcoming Business Visits

Representatives from two British companies are expected to arrive within the next two to three weeks, coinciding with We Gatherin’ celebrations in St. Thomas, where Sealey will also be in attendance.

The well-attended business meeting was coordinated with the GBCC’s Global Team, led by Jayne Hume, and featured an introduction by Janie Frampton, President of the Global Birmingham Greater Chamber of Commerce (GBGCC).

Barbados’ Strong Investment Appeal

During the meeting, Holder highlighted Barbados’ economic stability, sound leadership, and investment-friendly environment, noting the country’s steady resurgence post-pandemic. His presentation also covered current tax policies, ongoing economic projects, and emerging business opportunities across various sectors.
