Barbados is gearing up for a vibrant celebration of culture, community, and cuisine as the beloved Oistins Fish Festival makes its highly anticipated return this Easter. Running from April 12 to 21 under the spirited theme Catch de Culture, this year’s festival promises to be the biggest and boldest yet.

Held in the heart of Oistins Bay Garden, the 10-day event will feature an expanded cultural programme, live entertainment, heritage exhibitions, and more than 150 vendors — a record number that signals a major boost for local entrepreneurs and small businesses on the South Coast.

Festival co-chairman Israel Mallet described the 2025 edition as a landmark moment for Oistins and the wider Barbadian community.

Catch de Culture is more than just a theme — it’s a celebration of who we are,” Mallet said during the festival’s official launch on Tuesday. “This is where generations come together, where talent is celebrated, and where the heart and soul of Barbados truly shine.”

A fixture on the national calendar for decades, the Oistins Fish Festival continues to honour the island’s fishing heritage while evolving into a powerful platform for artistic expression, economic development, and national pride. Visitors can expect everything from fish boning and grease pole competitions to live performances and culinary showcases spotlighting the island’s rich seafood tradition.

Longtime title sponsor FLOW Barbados is once again backing the festival, reaffirming its commitment to cultural preservation and community development. Senior Manager of Communications Toni Yarde noted the company’s pride in being part of such a meaningful event.

“For us, the festival is not only about honouring Barbadian heritage — it’s about bringing communities together, recognising the hard work of our fisherfolk, and showcasing the best of Oistins,” Yarde said. “Through enhanced technology and digital engagement, we’re excited to offer new ways for visitors to experience the festival.”

FLOW’s support goes beyond sponsorship, with plans to introduce tech-driven experiences that will deepen audience connection and expand the festival’s reach across the island and beyond.

Organisers expect the festival to provide a significant economic boost to micro and small enterprises, with artisans, chefs, and community groups making up the majority of the vendor list. A jam-packed schedule of events promises entertainment for all ages, while reinforcing values of pride, unity, and industry.

As excitement builds, organisers and sponsors are encouraging Barbadians and visitors alike to turn out in full force and catch de culture.

“This festival is a celebration of all that makes us Barbadian,” Yarde added. “We invite everyone to join us in supporting our vendors, enjoying the festivities, and indulging in the very best of our culinary and cultural traditions.”
