Palladium Hotel Group has announced a major expansion of its operations in Jamaica, marking a bold step forward in the evolution of luxury travel in the Caribbean.
The Spanish hospitality brand has officially broken ground on a $20 million development project that will significantly expand its Grand Palladium Hotels & Resorts complex in Montego Bay. The investment will add 948 new rooms, nearly doubling the resort’s capacity to a total of 1,997 rooms.

Currently, the group operates the Grand Palladium Jamaica Resort & Spa and the Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton Resort & Spa, both located in Lucea, Hanover. Together, the properties offer 1,049 rooms. With this expansion, Palladium will introduce TRS Hotels to Jamaica—its signature adults-only, all-inclusive luxury brand already established in other parts of the Caribbean and Europe.
The expansion is also expected to make a meaningful economic impact, generating around 1,500 direct jobs and an estimated 2,000 indirect employment opportunities within the island’s tourism and hospitality sectors.
Since establishing its presence in Jamaica in 2008, Palladium Hotel Group has continually invested in elevating the island’s premium hospitality offerings. The latest development emphasizes the company’s dedication to sustainable tourism and community development, incorporating both upgrades to existing facilities and the integration of eco-friendly initiatives.

A centerpiece of the project is the introduction of TRS Hotels to the Jamaican market. This upscale concept caters to modern travelers—couples, honeymooners, and solo guests—seeking an exclusive, adults-only experience characterized by refined service and elevated amenities.
Complementing the luxury expansion is the rollout of Family Selection, a premium experience within the resort tailored specifically for families. This VIP-style offering includes upgraded accommodations, private spaces, and curated activities designed to enhance the experience for guests of all ages.
The announcement was made during a formal groundbreaking ceremony in February, which was attended by Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness, Spanish Ambassador José María Fernández López, and Palladium Hotel Group President Abel Matutes, who also serves as Vice President of Grupo Empresas Matutes.
