Jamaica is set to see one of its most ambitious tourism developments yet, as Palace Resorts officially broke ground on the Moon Palace The Grand – Montego Bay, a $700 million project that will redefine the island’s luxury hospitality landscape.

The groundbreaking ceremony, attended by Prime Minister Andrew Holness and Palace Resorts CEO Gibrán Chapur, marked the start of a landmark development that brings both scale and prestige to Montego Bay.

The new resort will feature 1,200 rooms, including overwater bungalows, 13 restaurants and bars, Jamaica’s largest spa, a water park, FlowRider surf simulator, bowling alley, and a dramatic third-level infinity pool. Golf access will further enhance the property’s appeal for high-end travelers.

With its sheer size and world-class amenities, Moon Palace The Grand is positioned as a flagship property not only for Palace Resorts but for the entire Caribbean luxury tourism sector.

This is Palace Resorts’ second major investment in Jamaica, following the successful launch of Moon Palace Jamaica in Ocho Rios in 2015 — a $250 million development that created over 1,200 jobs. Together, the two projects bring Palace Resorts’ total commitment to Jamaica to nearly $1 billion over the last decade.

The Montego Bay resort alone is expected to create 3,000 jobs for Jamaicans, providing a significant boost to the local economy. Prime Minister Holness hailed the project as a transformative investment, strengthening Jamaica’s tourism product, creating new opportunities for local talent, and solidifying Montego Bay’s reputation as a global luxury destination.

Moon Palace The Grand – Montego Bay is more than a resort; it’s a bold statement about the future of Caribbean tourism.
