Holland America Line has welcomed the Zuiderdam back into service with a refreshed look and a suite of new guest-facing enhancements after a two-week drydock in the Bahamas. The ship resumed sailing on December 6, 2025, departing Miami for a 17-day Eastern and Southern Caribbean itinerary that highlights its updated spaces and upgraded onboard experience.
A Reimagined Crow’s Nest for Live Entertainment
One of the standout upgrades is the transformed Crow’s Nest, now featuring a newly built bandstand designed for intimate performances and enrichment programming. The venue also received improved lighting and sound systems to better support small-scale concerts, lectures, storytelling sessions and other hosted events.

Expanded and Updated Stateroom Options
To increase capacity and modernize accommodations, Holland America added 11 new ocean-view staterooms on decks one and seven. Several categories of existing rooms received notable improvements as well:
- New carpeting in all verandah staterooms across decks five through ten, as well as in Neptune, Signature and Pinnacle suites
- Full bathroom remodels in verandah staterooms on Deck 8, featuring new vanities, mirrors, tubs, flooring and wall finishes
- Upgraded bathroom flooring and refreshed wallpaper in approximately 300 additional staterooms ship-wide
These changes aim to elevate comfort while maintaining the ship’s classic appeal.
Refreshed Dining and Public Spaces
A broad refresh of the ship’s shared areas was also completed, including:
- New carpeting in the Dining Room, Lido Market, Canaletto, guest corridors, stairwells, elevator lobbies and the Greenhouse Spa & Salon
- Updated upholstery in Canaletto and Lido Market
- A redesigned sales counter and retail space in the Photo Gallery
- New outdoor deck and hydro-pool furniture to enhance relaxation areas
The Atrium received new carpeting and paint, giving the central hub a brighter, more contemporary feel.

Caribbean Sailings Paired With Seasonal Offers
Travelers in the U.S. and Canada planning a Caribbean cruise aboard the refreshed Zuiderdam may be eligible for Holland America’s limited-time “Save on Sunshine” promotion. Available on select 2025 and 2026 departures, the offer includes:
- Up to 50% off cruise fares
- $50 per person onboard credit (up to $200 per stateroom) in celebration of RelaxAway and Half Moon Cay’s 28th anniversary
- Free or reduced fares for kids aged 18 and under traveling as third or fourth guests in the same stateroom
The promotion applies only to new bookings and expires on December 17, 2025.
