In July 2020, Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley introduced the Welcome Stamp Programme with the aim of diversifying the island’s tourism sector, attracting a new demographic of visitors, and generating foreign exchange. The Remote Employment Amendment Bill, 2021, was subsequently passed in July 2021, which extended the existing legislation governing the Welcome Stamp. The Remote Employment Act 2020-2023 allows for the renewal of the Welcome Stamp, payment of associated fees, and the extension of the stamp for individuals who have been in Barbados for a year.
