Barbados’ Hospitality Landscape Expands with Hotel Indigo

Barbados is preparing to host a brand-new addition to its hospitality landscape in the form of a Hotel Indigo. This 132-room establishment is on track for completion and grand opening during the final quarter of 2024. Aptly named “Indigo Barbados,” this project falls under the management of the Polcom Group, a trusted provider of premium modular building systems and interiors spanning various asset classes, such as hospitality, residential properties, student housing, and more. Notably, Polcom Group will oversee the construction of the hotel’s rooms as off-site modular units.

Hotel Indigo, a boutique hotel chain known for its individuality and part of the InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), is expanding its global footprint. As of December 2021, there were 130 Hotel Indigo properties worldwide.

In a significant milestone, the groundbreaking ceremony took place at the Christ Church beachfront location. Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “The groundbreaking event on September 27 for the 132-room Hotel Indigo serves as a powerful testament to the confidence in Barbados, its thriving economy, and its resilient people. Hotel Indigo will occupy the space previously held by the Caribbee Hotel and is expected to provide employment for 250 Barbadians during the construction phase, with hundreds more employment opportunities upon opening.”

The ambitious multi-million-dollar project also includes plans for three on-site restaurants. Impressively, the hotel’s design prioritizes the preservation of the Richard Haynes boardwalk, ensuring it remains accessible to both locals and guests. Moreover, there will be an uninterrupted vista of the sea along that stretch of Highway, as showcased in the artist’s renderings.
