Barbados Food and Rum Festival Secures Prestigious International Recognition

Following a remarkable transformation in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Barbados Food and Rum Festival has firmly established itself as the premier culinary event in the Caribbean, now backed by a prestigious international accolade.

Ian Gooding-Edghill, the Minister of Tourism and International Transport, unveiled the exciting news during a recent media gathering at ZaZen Villa in Bathsheba. The festival, a late summer staple, clinched the coveted title of “Caribbean’s Best Culinary Festival of 2023.” This prestigious recognition was bestowed upon the festival by the World Culinary Awards during a special awards ceremony held in Dubai on October 16.

With evident pride, Gooding-Edghill declared, “When we proclaim ourselves as the culinary capital of the Caribbean, we can now proudly add that we host the finest culinary festival in the entire region.”

The minister commended the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI), as well as the talented chefs and bartenders affiliated with the festival for their dedication and passion. He extended his gratitude, saying, “Thank you for your unwavering commitment to crafting exquisite dishes and mixing world-class cocktails. Your efforts have elevated this festival to a global standard, and I am delighted that you now possess another accolade to showcase to the world.”
