JetBlue and CIBC Launch Exciting New Credit Cards in 5 Caribbean Nations, including Barbados

JetBlue and CIBC FirstCaribbean have teamed up in collaboration with Mastercard, a global leader in the payments industry, to introduce a pair of new credit cards tailored for customers in five Caribbean countries where JetBlue operates. These innovative offerings, the JetBlue Mastercard and JetBlue Select Mastercard by CIBC FirstCaribbean, are designed to deliver a host of exclusive rewards, benefits, and the opportunity to earn TrueBlue® points, which can be redeemed for travel to over 100 destinations within JetBlue’s extensive network.

Starting in November 2023, residents of The Bahamas, Jamaica, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, and the Cayman Islands will have access to these credit cards for the first time. As an enticing bonus, both cards offer a generous welcome reward of either 10,000 or 30,000 TrueBlue points when cardholders meet the specified purchase requirements within the initial 90 days of opening their credit accounts.

Chris Buckner, JetBlue’s VP of Loyalty & Partnerships, expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “As a leading airline in the Caribbean, JetBlue maintains its commitment to delivering innovative programs and products to more of our loyal customers in the region. We’re excited to launch our partnership with CIBC FirstCaribbean and Mastercard to offer our customers even more benefits.”

He emphasized the value of these cards, stating, “The JetBlue Mastercard and JetBlue Select Mastercard from CIBC FirstCaribbean provide our customers with added value and flexibility to earn points on their everyday purchases. With each purchase, card members are one step closer to the destination of their choice.”

Mark St. Hill, the Chief Executive Officer of CIBC FirstCaribbean, shared his enthusiasm about this collaboration, saying, “We are delighted to join with our partners Mastercard and JetBlue, the preferred airline brand flying between the US & the Caribbean. Together we will make a formidable partnership allowing us to bring added value to JetBlue TrueBlue loyalty members regionally.”

Jimena Elia, Country Manager for the West & Dutch Caribbean markets at Mastercard, added, “We’re thrilled that our longstanding partnership with JetBlue is now expanding into the English Caribbean markets. Together, we’ve worked to develop a set of valuable solutions that deliver a trusted, convenient, and reliable payment experience.”

The JetBlue Mastercard by CIBC FirstCaribbean stands out with its unique feature of having no annual fee. Card members can earn points for every purchase, with JetBlue-related expenses accumulating two TrueBlue points per US$1 spent, while all other purchases, such as groceries, restaurant bills, and gasoline, earn one point per US$1 spent.

On the other hand, the JetBlue Select Mastercard by CIBC FirstCaribbean, which comes with a US$99 annual fee, offers even more attractive perks. Cardholders can earn four TrueBlue points per US$1 spent on JetBlue purchases and one point per US$1 spent on all other transactions. In addition to these rewards, this card grants cardholders a free checked bag for themselves and up to three companions when used to purchase JetBlue-operated flights. Furthermore, it provides a US$100 annual statement credit for JetBlue Vacations package purchases.
