Barbados is set to welcome the European Legends Golf Tournament at the Apes Hill golf course during the first week of May, featuring former Masters champion Ian Woosnam as the host ambassador. The announcement was made by Craig Hinds, the acting Chief Executive Officer of the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI), at a press briefing held at the Apes Hill Club House in St. James.
This pro-am event will spotlight former stars of the European tour and major championships, although the roster of participating players has yet to be unveiled.

Hinds highlighted BTMI’s role as an official sponsor of the event, expressing pride in aligning with such a prestigious sporting event. He emphasized the opportunity the tournament offers for showcasing Barbados’s beauty and its capability to host high-caliber sporting events, reinforcing the island’s commitment to golf and luxury tourism through its association with both the Legends Tour and the PGA Tour and PGA Champions.
Phil Harrison, CEO of the European Legends Tour, expressed enthusiasm for returning to Barbados, praising its ideal setting for the tournament which will feature around 50 professionals and 75 amateur golfers. He lauded the partnership with BTMI, promising a world-class event that will leverage television, social media, and other channels to highlight the investment in Barbados.

Jody Addison, Director of Golf at Apes Hill, outlined the three-year collaboration with the Legends Tour, aiming to establish Apes Hill as the leading golf and lifestyle destination in the Caribbean.
