Barbados’s Foursquare Rum Distillery has once again proven its mastery of rum-making, winning the 2025 IWSC Rum Trophy for its Foursquare EQUIDEM, a double-aged 14-year-old spirit that captured the judges’ attention at the International Wine & Spirits Competition (IWSC).
This is Foursquare’s second consecutive win and fourth overall, following triumphs in 2016, 2020, and 2024. Each year, the IWSC selects just one standout rum from a field of more than 400 global entries, making the achievement even more prestigious.

A Legacy of Awards
Beyond its trophy wins, the St. Philip-based distillery has been shortlisted nine times for IWSC’s Rum Producer of the Year, securing the title on five occasions—in 2016, 2018, 2019, 2021, and 2024. In 2021, it also claimed the title of Outstanding Spirits Producer of the Year, the IWSC’s highest accolade across all spirit categories.
Global Recognition
The IWSC, established in 1969, is regarded as one of the world’s most respected judging platforms for wine and spirits. Entries are blind-tasted by expert panels, with only a select few awarded the coveted Spirit Trophy each year.
According to Forbes, Foursquare has earned a reputation for “uncompromising quality, transparency, and award-winning craftsmanship.” Since its founding in 1996, the distillery has established itself as one of the Caribbean’s leading rum producers.
